Mill Create A Football Dream

The Mill have just finished working on a fun World Cup spot for Nationwide Building Society called ?‚àö√ë‚àö‚â§Football Dream’s that promotes their long standing partnership with the England team.

Directed by Paul Weiland for Leagas Delaney, the ad features the Bank Manager we all love to hate- Nationwide actor Mark ‘ New Customers Only!’ Benton.

We see our Bank Manager rudely drifting off to sleep while his loyal client is trying to discuss new rates for his loan. Slipping into a fantasy dream sequence he imagines he is the England goal keeper in the World Cup final about to save the last penalty to decide the game?Ķ?Ķas the England team huddle nervously, our plucky goalie jokes around in the net trying to put his penalty taker off. Despite his generous frame he produces an overhead scissor kick and smacks the ball out of play to win the World Cup for England.

To create the desired effect of a dream sequence Judy Roberts designed and built the stadium in Flame and created the abstract crowds and dreamy backgrounds to give this section an obvious imaginary look and feel.

Judy also created additional elements like confetti, flares, neon lights and signs around the stadium. Time was also spent on Mark Benton fabulous over head kick which he did himself whilst attached to stunt wires. For this one shot Judy had to cut and fold his body movements in flame to create one smooth action shot.
