Pond5, the world’s largest provider of royalty-free stock videos and the premier source of licensable music tracks, sound effects, and millions of photos, has announced the appointment of Jason Teichman as the company’s new Chief Executive Officer and Board Director. In this role, Teichman will help the company continue to accelerate its growth by scaling its creative marketplace, leveraging its unique relationship with the artist community, and furthering its investments in emerging media, such as drone footage and 360-degree video.
Teichman brings with him more than two decades of experience in running digital-media businesses, most recently as Chief Operating Officer at Web.com Group. Under his tenure, the company achieved a 300% growth rate and nearly $1 billion in market capitalization. While he was there, Teichman enabled businesses of all sizes to tap into a platform of creative services and online marketing solutions to drive their growth. Prior to joining Web.com, Teichman served in executive leadership roles at Register.com, before its sale to Web.com, and American Express, as Vice President for its Card Services Division.
He brings the right skillset to take our mission of empowering artists around the world to the next level.
“Jason’s proven track record for scaling creative businesses, innovating product offerings, and driving double-digit growth makes him the perfect fit,” said Pond5 board member and Google VP Torrence Boone.
“We’re delighted to have Jason on board,” added co-founder and Executive Chairman Tom Bennett. “He brings the right skillset to take our mission of empowering artists around the world to the next level. His joining is a huge win for the Pond5 community.”
“What we’re seeing across channels like Facebook, Snapchat, and Netflix is an unprecedented growth in video consumption, at a rate where supply can no longer keep up with demand,” said Teichman. “New reports suggest that as early as 2017, video will account for almost 70 percent of all consumer internet traffic. These channels require high-quality footage with rapid turnaround times, making Pond5 a go-to partner. Pond5’s unique relationship with its artist community and its pioneering investments in video, audio, and traditional and emerging media are what attracted me to the company. As demand for high-quality media continues to accelerate, my goal is to make sure we continue to build out our collection of media assets on a global scale, while making it even easier for artists to work with us.”
