Pixar Animation Studios swept the 43rd Annual Annie Awards winning all eleven of the awards designated for Animated Feature Productions – including the coveted award for Best Animated Feature for Inside Out.
Inside Out went on to win all but one of the remaining Annie Awards in their category including:
- Outstanding Achievement for Character Animation in a Feature Production
- Outstanding Achievement for Character Design in an Animated Feature Production
- Outstanding Achievement for Directing in an Animated Feature Production
- Outstanding Achievement for Music in an Animated Feature Production
- Outstanding Achievement for Production Design in an Animated Feature Production
- Outstanding Achievement for Storyboarding in an Animated Feature Production
- Outstanding Achievement for Voice Acting in an Animated Feature Production
- Outstanding Achievement for Writing in an Animated Feature Production
- Outstanding Achievement for Editorial in an Animated Feature Production
But it didn’t stop there. Pixar Animation Studios dominated the evening taking home the one remaining award – Outstanding Achievement, Animated Effects in an Animated Production for The Good Dinosaur.
In addition to the awards for Animated Feature Productions, a new category – Best Animated Feature: Independent – was added this year. Congratulations to Filme de Papel who was the inaugural recipient in this category with their animated feature, Boy and the World.
On the broadcast side, it was a night for Disney Television Animation winning five Annies including Best Animated Television/Broadcast Production for Children with Wander Over Yonder – The Breakfast. Disney Mickey Mouse took home awards for Outstanding Achievement for Music in a TV/Broadcast Production and Outstanding Achievement for Storyboarding in a TV/Broadcast Production for ¡Feliz Cumpleaños. And the award for Outstanding Achievement for Editorial in a TV/Broadcast Production went to Disney Mickey Mouse – Coned.
The Annual Annie Awards is the animation industry’s most prestigious event. On February 6, 2016 animators, vfx artists, writers, storyboard artists, editors and producers gathered at Royce Hall on the UCLA campus to celebrate excellence in the field of animation. Fans of animation from around the globe joined from afar, watching the live stream of 43rd Annual Annie Awards.
