Trollbäck + Company Creates Jackson Pollock Inspired Titles for Peggy Guggenheim: Art Addict

Creative Agency Trollbäck + Company creates the opening titles for “Peggy Guggenheim: Art Addict,” directed by Lisa Immordino Vreeland and produced by Stanley Buchthal for SUBMARINE.

The job was a collaboration with And/Or Studio. The feature documentary celebrates the fascinating life story of Peggy Guggenheim: groundbreaking patron and collector of 20th century art – and artists.

Inspired by the works of Jackson Pollock, Robert Motherwell, and their contemporaries, the design concepts take cues from abstract expressionism in form and color. Bold brushstrokes and spontaneous paint splatters evoke the modern masters Peggy championed and loved, reflecting the sea change in art and culture that swirled around her. Trollbäck + Company also designed the chapter headings interspersed throughout the film.

Vreeland’s film premiered at the 2015 Tribeca Film Festival to sold out audiences and continues to be seen on the festival circuit.

Behind the Scenes

Plexiglass sheets, a white body suit, and a dash of modern art inspiration. We worked with the creative team at And/Or and our long time collaborator DP Noah David Smith to capture paint splatters and bold strokes in real time. We think the result is a beautiful introduction to the bohemian life of a remarkable collector and advocate for modern art.
