motion 2015 Speaker Brian Bowman Selected as CURRENTS Featured Artist

Brian Bowman, Creative Director at Trollbäck+Company was selected as a featured artist at CURRENTS: The International New Media Festival. CURRENTS is a world-class three-week event consisting of video and interactive installations, animation, art apps, fulldome and multimedia performances.

Bowman’s new media installation A Thousand Rooms, explores the subconscious through visualizing psychological phenomena like dreams, belief, and spirituality. Recorded interviews ranging from lucid dreamers to near-death survivors provide a woven aural tapestry for imagery that maps out impossible spaces. As if witnessed by sonar, the unseen is revealed; dark landscapes, ephemeral mansions and the commonality of human experience.

In August 2014, motion conference announced a new partnership with CURRENTS: The International New Media Festival

“CURRENTS is the perfect counterpart to motion 2015,” said Elaine Montoya, co-producer of the annual event. “The combination of motion and CURRENTS creates a unique multi-day creative experience like none other.”

“Brian has been a speaker at motion several times, and is always an audience favorite. 2015 marks the the first time a speaker will be on the motion stage and featured as a CURRENTS artist. In addition to his multimedia installation, we’ll be debuting Brian’s animated short documentary A Thousand Rooms – the counterpart to his new media installation. We’re really excited about this.”

Bowman will be presenting a breakdown of both the interactive installation and the animated documentary as his motion 2015 talk.

A Thousand Rooms will be on display at El Museo Cultural de Santa Fe, June 12-28, 2015 as part of CURRENTS: The International New Media Festival.

motion 2015 is a 3+ day creative retreat that takes place at the NM History Museum Auditorium on the Santa Fe Plaza, June 12-14, 2015.
